Welcome
What if reality isn’t fixed, but can be folded?
What if the familiar is merely a starting point: an invitation to look again?
That curiosity lies at the core of my painting practice. My work grows from a hunger for images and a fascination with what unfolds beneath the surface. By shifting viewpoints, unfolding dimensions, and lifting forms from their context, space begins to emerge.
Space for ambiguity, wonder, and sometimes a quiet sense of disorientation: a pause that allows new clarity to appear.
My paintings move between abstracted landscapes, architectural fragments, and organic structures. They often start from observation, but gradually let go of recognizability. In doing so, they invite an inner journey through layers of colour, form, and sensation.
For me, reality is not a fixed stage but a field of possibilities. With each brushstroke, I explore how space, light, and perception interact and what happens when that logic is gently stretched.

"I paint to sense and explore the complexity of the world. Spaces that seem familiar become disorienting; silence and movement meet the human desire for connection. Here, in the moment, a place arises to slow down, to look, and to feel."

“Berkvens’ paintings function as mental spaces in which the gaze is not led toward a point of rest, but remains in constant motion, skimming across the painted surface.”
